After eleven years of hard work we have made good progress. Mary is finally returning to school, and John is no longer a threat to us here at home; though he still struggles mightily at school. They are both free of most physical symptoms such as asthma, dyslexia, headaches, and nasal allergies. Mary has matured in so many ways, but in some ways she is still a child. John is at a critical point in his young life. If he succeeds at something, soon, he will be fine. If he doesn't, then who knows. He is not out of the woods just yet. And Mary is about to become a full-time mother, at age 19, without so much as a high school diploma. We have many challenges ahead.
Diet is still key to their success - John has to watch his carbs, and Mary has to monitor fats and artificials. This is certainly a necessary foundation; nothing else will help, not even medication, if we don't get this one right.
I will update this blog as events warrant.
Feel free to to Karl, the author of this article. I am anxious to collaborate with other parents who find themselves in similar situations.
